Thursday morning we awoke at 4am. We had only just gone to bed at 1am. I woke feeling terribly ill. The first thing I said to Daniel was, “I think I’m going to be sick”. I was so mad, I thought it was food poisoning. I pushed through it. Nothing was stopping me from getting to Vegas. I did feel pretty rotten though, I was contemplating in my head that if I got worse that we should take a later flight.
We got our stuff together and drove over to where Nick & the Kim’s live. 5am.
Everyone was ready to go and I was starting to feel a bit better. Daniel even made me vegemite toast at Nick’s and I had a little nibble and was coming around. Packed up the car and we were on our way. Oh wait, Nick forgot his wallet. Turned around, went back – success! So we were really on our way now. I was feeling much better and knew that I would survive
We got on the plane and we were off and away. YAY!
The flight to Vegas from Seattle is about 2-2.5 hours, and it went really quickly.
As soon as we touched down and got into the terminal there were pokie machines. They were everywhere.
Vegas is massive, we were all oh! & ah!, we checked into the hotel and had a look around. As fantastic as Vegas is, during the day it does lack a certain something. At night it comes alive, it is like a completely different place.
Highlights:
Walking the strip at night.
Don’t be fooled by the distance of things. Vegas is massive, the buildings are massive, everything is massive. This gives the illusion that things are close together. I had my pedometer on my phone on and over the entire 3 day trip we walked close to 50km.
Bellagio Fountain Show
This was just amazing. I can’t even describe how good it was. I think we ended up watching it like 5 or 6 times. Fountains are set off and choreographed to music, and each one we saw was different. I recorded one of the shows. Its all water & lights – no fireworks.
Cirque du Soleil – KA
“KÀ, the unprecedented, gravity-defying production by Cirque du Soleil takes adventure to an all new level. KÀ is a heroic journey of love and conflict, set within a dynamic theatrical landscape, as an entire empire appears on KÀ’s colossal stage and a captivating display of acrobatics envelops the audience. Only at MGM Grand, Las Vegas.”
This was my first Cirque du Soleil show and it was AMAZING! I loved it! I want to go back to Vegas just to see all their other shows (there is one at virtual every hotel!)
The show had me awe from the beginning. Really is something you have to see understand.
Nick getting scared by the “mannequin” at Madame Tussaud’s
We had approached the haunted house part of the wax museum. There was a scaryish mannequin standing near the entry way to this additional haunted house part. Nick says you just know there will things like that (points to mannequin) inside their that will come to life and scare you. The mannequin then moves and says something like actually you’re right. Nick shat himself and practically lept into the wall. It was so so funny and totally worth paying the entry to get into the wax museum, my only regret is I didn’t have the video camera out.
Going to the top of the “Eiffel Tower”
On the last night that we were there, we had dinner at the buffet inside Paris (Eiffel Tower restaurant?) Well they have a mini Eiffel Tower there and after dinner we went to the top. It was so pretty. It over looked the strip and was directly opposite the Bellagio. We saw another fountain show set to “my heart will go on” and it was so so pretty.
Now for the pictures.
